My Granddad brought his family to Brighton on summer day trips, to escape a drab post-war London. He found utopia in a pot of cockles, a deck chair and a bottle of light ale. I found a utopia of my own in a city with broad horizons, which is what inspired me to set up a studio here in 2010.
Having gained a wealth of experience in agency-land, we pull on this knowledge to offer creative solutions across a variety of brand challenges. We believe in simple, direct communication and apply this to print, screen and environmental design.

MHFA England is a an organisation started under the NHS and committed to promoting the practice and education of mental health first aid. MHFA England approached ABD to design a strong, trust worthy and approachable brand identity to coincide with their launch as a Community Interest Company, moving out from under the NHS, with them wanting to be seen as distinct and separate.
The brand personality was developed and tone of voice established with a copywriter. The old logo was simplified and evolved so as to present the brand as fresh & contemporary without alienating the existing users. The identity would have to live in print and on–line as well as be developed as a series of brand extensions starting with MHFA Youth. The MHFA England organisation works as a network support system and we have developed a modular system that reflects this. The brand has now been launched and consolidates the organisation to be recognised as one authoritative body.
