My Granddad brought his family to Brighton on summer day trips, to escape a drab post-war London. He found utopia in a pot of cockles, a deck chair and a bottle of light ale. I found a utopia of my own in a city with broad horizons, which is what inspired me to set up a studio here in 2010.

Aspinall Capital Partners launched in the wake of the 2009 banking crisis. Steve Aspinall set out to restore some degree of faith in the industry focussing his business model on slower, long term investments. The visual identity was to reflect the stability of this investment strategy by bringing a sense of the old London financial establishment juxtaposed with the contemporary vision of the dynamic personalities that lay at the heart of the business.
We investigated the Aspinall name and the heritage that supports it. The family crest consists of a Griffin and a chevron with the family motto translating to ‘Virtue is the strongest shield’. With this in mind we set out to create a contemporary version of this to sit at the heart of the identity with a supporting word mark set in Akzidenz Grotesk giving the busness a clean, contemporary appearance.
